MetroFanatic talked with Jonny Walker at the player appearance at The Onion Bag Soccer Shop. We want to thank Jonny for a terrific interview, especially when he diagramed using markers and cups MetroFanatic's error in thinking he could have come out earlier on the first goal in San Jose. Thanks, Jonny! You bring a spirit not many show and you are not only a great goalkeeper, but a total class act as well.

on allowing five goals vs San Jose: A lot of goals were scored by us! (laughs) You like the spin of that one?... I left in five, so that's a lot of responsibility on that end. But it's a part of the game, not a normal one -- I remember only one other time in my career. I couldn't do much to stop them, just pull them out of the net. We were all pleased with the result; down two goals in the second half, we got the result, which is the important thing.

on Tenywa Bonseu: He came in, some good moments and then a moment or two you want to take back and do something different. Also good to see Jeff Parke to come back to full fitness, he is ready to play this week.

on his first game as a Metro, vs Mid Michigan: One of the toughest games ever. First game, to come in under such difficult circumstances, with the previous goalie going to Europe, going into a small town, with very little upside.

on not getting called up for USA: (loud) I'm out! With the national team, it's understood, I might get called in, or might not. It's hard to fault Bruce for the two goalkeepers he's taking.

on no shutouts this year: I have a league-leading GAA, I'll see if I can get it over 4. Maybe I'll make it on SportsCenter. (laughs)

on having a much lower GAA last year: Can't explain it, statistics do not apply for what I do, only the results matter. All that matters is how many championships you win.

on San Jose fans complaining that he has an ego: I have an ego??? (laughs) Maybe I do, maybe I don't... They did call me an "Earthquake reject" last week (rolls eyes).

on playing in Europe: I can't play over there! I don't have enough caps to play in England. Some countries, like Germany, they don't import goalies, maybe they have one Hungarian or two. In Italy, the international goalies are big time, with World Cup experience.

on playing in front of 8K here vs getting urine thrown at him in Paraguay: It's a tradeoff. New York beats Paraguay any day of the week.
